Mikhail Markin received an MS.c. in geology (2000) from Voronezh State University, Russia. Until 2006, he worked at the Research Institute of Geology and Voronezh State University as a researcher and lecturer.
From 2006 to 2016, he worked at the Design Institute of Construction and in 2016 at the Swiss Engineering Group as an expert in geological surveys.

The PhD research of Mikhail regards the central Israel coastal wetlands. He is applying a multi-proxy approach to reconstruct the Holocene wetlands environments
